Lunch & Learn: Inclusive Usability Testing with GRIT Toronto
August 22, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
On Thursday, August 22, we’re hosting a collaborative, open discussion on how a people-first approach to research and testing leads to better insights – putting the ‘us’ in usability testing.
Too often, technology products and services that are meant to improve the lives of everyday people are researched, designed and prototyped entirely behind closed doors. This could lead to biased technology that isn’t built for all users in mind. The key to avoid falling into this trap is to engage everyday people throughout the design process via thoughtful research and testing activities.
Civic Hall Toronto’s sister program, GRIT (Gathering Residents to Improve Technology) Toronto, launched in 2018 to tackle these issues head-on. GRIT Toronto offers services that connect technology creators — including governments, startups and civic tech groups — with diverse and underrepresented communities to elicit feedback on their products and services, and ultimately make them more impactful and accessible.
Join us to learn how to adopt a truly inclusive approach to user research and usability testing activities for your work.
This event is for government members only. Government members can RSVP here.
Snacks will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.
