Training: Agile for Humans (in the public sector)

October 18 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Developed and led by agile trainer Matt Thompson, Agile for Humans is a hands-on workshop covering agile basics that work in the real world.

Why “Agile for Humans?” The challenge is simple: agile methods like Scrum really work – but are often intimidating to implement, require more training than busy professionals really want or need, and can be hard to apply in hybrid or non-technical teams working in areas other than software development.

“Agile for Humans” is a workshop designed to bridge this gap. It simplifies and translates key agile methods and mindsets into language that busy leaders, project managers and staff can understand quickly, adapt to their own needs, and start experimenting with right away. The emphasis is on finding the specific lightweight techniques that work best for the team, rather than forcing people to adopt a whole new complex process, struggle to translate theory into real-world practice, or “drink the Kool-aid” in an onerous or unrealistic way.

This training is for government members only. Please email shea@codefor.ca to learn more.

Matt Thompson (@OpenMatt) is a 2017 Mozilla Fellow, agile trainer, and author of the forthcoming book Working Open: radical collaboration for beginners. After serving seven years as a Senior Director at the Mozilla Foundation, he’s currently interviewing and writing about the world’s most inspiring open source people and projects, exploring how open and agile principles can strengthen human collaboration and save the world. Matt is a Webby Award-winning open internet activist, opensource.com contributor, former CBC journalist and DJ dad. You can read his book in progress at workopen.org.
